Nephew ‘axes’ uncle to death

A 71-YEAR old man of Mkushi has allegedly been murdered by his nephew who suspected him of being a wizard.

Central province Police commissioner Chola Katanga confirmed the murder in a statement.

Mr. Katanga said the incident occurred on Sunday between 14.00 and 20.00hrs at Kaluba village in Chief Mulungwe area.

He identified the deceased as Patrick Kaluba who was allegedly beaten to death by his nephew Frank Chipala 45, who accused him of being a wizard.

Commissioner Katanga said Chipala allegedly used the axe handle in the act and no physical injuries were seen on the body.

He further said the   body was deposited in Masansa health centre mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

“The deceased was accused of being a wizard. An axe handle was used in the act. The body   has been inspected and no physical injuries seen.  The suspect has been arrested,” Commissioner Katanga said.

Meanwhile, Mkushi Police have arrested a ZESCO general worker for alleged forgery and uttering documents of his elder brother to get a loan from Unity Finance Bank.

Mr Katanga confirmed the arrest in a statement.

He said the incident occurred on Tuesday around at 12:30 hrs at Unity Finance Bank.

Mr. Katanga identified the man as Moses Bwalya Mbao 41, of Itala compound who he said allegedly forged National Registration Card (NRC) of his brother Bwalya Mbao and presented it to Mkushi’s Unity Finance Bank with a view of getting a loan.
