A SECURITY guard in Serenje’s Lupampa area is on the run after he allegedly stole 54 bags of D compound meant for Natwange Agriculture Cooperative.

Natwange Cooperative chairperson Judith Mumba confirmed the incident in an interview.

Ms Mumba said on Friday, she gave the authority to collect to the security guard, Dickson Kaluba, who took it to the manager.

She explained that the cooperative was advised to collect on Saturday but when they did, they were advised to return on Monday.

Ms Mumba was shocked on Monday when she was told that the guard had redeemed 54 bags of D Compound fertiliser meant for the cooperative.

Ms Mumba wondered how the guard managed to collect the bags of fertiliser when she was the one who was supposed to sign on the receipts.

“I am shocked that the 54 bags were redeemed when I did not sign the receipts I’m told someone else signed.

“We gave the guard the authority to collect to give the person who is in charge of redeeming but we were advised to come back on Saturday. On Saturday, we were then told to go on Monday.  But to our shock we found that our fertiliser was redeemed on Sunday. “We have reported the matter to the police,” Ms Mumba said.
