Former Defence Minister Davies Chama has described the action by the Drug Enforcement Commission –DEC to effect a seizure notice on a lodge they believed belonged to former President Edgar Lungu as an illegality motivated by witch hunt for the former first family.
Investigative wings recently seized what they believed to be former President Edgar Lungu’s Lodge in Lusaka in Lusaka’s Ibex Hill area.
However, the seizure notice has been lifted after the commission noted that Crest Lodge which was seized does not belong to the former Head of State but a Mr. Charles Phiri.
But Mr Chama says the investigative wings are in a hurry to embarrass the former first family and in a long run end up embarrassing the President with some illegalities.

And Chama has challenged government to tell the nation if they are planning to lift Mr. Lungu’s immunity or if they have secretly done so because DEC cannot act in such a manner on a former President who enjoys immunity.
