By Irvin Muyumbwa The Socialist Party has declared that it will rally behind the candidature of Joe Malanji and Bowman Lusambo in the forthcoming Kwacha and Kabushi parliamentary by elections slated for next month.
Socialist Party president Dr Fred M’membe told a media briefing that this support is unconditional because the party believes the constitutional court judgement to nullify the two seats was unjust.
Dr M’membe says all the party structures in the two constituencies will campaign for the two parliamentary candidates in Kabushi and Kwacha constituencies.
Dr M’membe says the the party believes to act in solidarity with those that have been unjustly treated, as such, will support the two candidates to the end, come what may, despite attempts to have the two arrested on non-bailable justice.
He says this is not a tactical political decision taken by the Socialist Party but it believes that what is happening to the two is injustice which it does not support as this is barbaric.
But Dr M’membe says the party will field a candidate in the Luangwa council chairperson by elections.

Meanwhile, Socialist Party General Secretary Dr Cosmas Musumali says the party believes it is the fastest growing political party on the Copperbelt with structures all over.

Dr Musumali says the party is not an opportunist but believes in principles more than a win in an election.
