FNB Zambia Launches Plant A Tree Initiative

IN a bid to positively impact the environment in building climate resilience and adaptation, First National Bank (FNB) Zambia) has launched a Plant A Tree Initiative.

The bank is committed to undertaking the initiative annually because trees support food systems and a means to generate income whilst protecting the environment.

According to FNB chief executive officer Bydon Longwe, the tree planting is aimed at complementing efforts by all FNB Zambia staff to have tree in all locations where the bank has presence.

The Plant A Tree Initiative was launched at Lusaka’s Northmead Primary School supported by management and staff from FNB Zambia and Northmead School.

“I am pleased to launch FNB Zambia’s Plant A Tree initiative especially at a school as the importance of instilling sustainable environmental practices, particularly to young ones cannot be underscored,” Mr Longwe said. 

“Since 2009 when FNB launched its operations in Zambia, the Bank has continued to demonstrate and implement real help through various initiatives true to our ethos of ‘How Can We Help You’. 

“FNB Zambia’s Plant A Tree Initiative complements efforts of instilling sustainable environmental practices. As a Bank, we remain resolute in contributing towards better, safer and healthier communities by improving the standards, livelihoods and circumstances of our fellow citizens in the communities in which we operate.”

He disclosed that the bank had also contributed about K400,000 in the fight against Covid-19 in 2021.

“As a Bank of The Changeables who commit to adapting with our evolving customers and communities’ needs, FNB Zambia will continue to engage in activities that positively impact society”, Mr Longwe added.

Over K200,000 was also committed towards empowerment of youth and women-led initiatives.
