Lusaka Chamber of Commerce signs MoU

Lusaka, January 12, 2022, ZANIS—The Lusaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry says there is need to build a long term mechanism for economic trade cooperation which can provide an enabling environment between China and Zambia.

Lusaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry President, Alexandra Lawrence said it is important to have an independent market that will promote business trade for both local and international businesses.

Mr Lawrence said this during the signing ceremony of a joint memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Lusaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Overseas Home China-Africa localized service center held in Lusaka today.

He stated that signing of the MOU between the two parties is a shared vision for practically strengthening China-Zambia cooperation.

Mr Lawrence added that this joint cooperation will promote friendly exchanges and boost business cooperation for both parties to reach economic trade.

And speaking earlier Representative of overseas Home-China Africa Cooperation Center Eng Jacob Mwanza said that the Lusaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry is one of the entities of building the long-term mechanism for economic and trade cooperation and exchanges with Africa in the China-Africa Pilot Zone for In-Depth Economic and Trade Cooperation.

Eng. Mwanza stated that the partnership focuses on providing a service platform for China- Africa economic and trade cooperation by connecting middle and high-end talents and local institutions in Africa and by setting up on-site service centers in Africa and China.

He further stated that the Cooperation Center has so far established African on-site service centers in 18 countries of Africa, connecting more than 200 local institutions in Africa.

“We need a shared vision for practically strengthening China-Zambia cooperation and jointly promoting friendly exchanges and boosting business cooperation, with both parties making full use of their cooperation to promote economic trade,” he said.
