MWANAWASA LAW FIRM CLOSED

THE Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) has suspended former First Lady Maureen Mwanawasa from practising law and ordered the immediate closure of her law firm, Messrs Levy Mwanawasa and Co.

LAZ has also suspended Mr Simposya Ziukani of Messrs MSK Advocates and Mr Nathaniel Nawa Inambao of Messrs ICN Legal Practitioners.

Dr Mwanawasa is not allowed to appear in any tribunal or file any court process until further notice, says a letter by the LAZ Legal Practitioner s’ Committee dated October 22, 2021, addressed to the acting Chief Justice, High Court Judges, All Magistrates, Attorney General, Solicitor General, Director of Prosecutions among others. 

“Take notice that the above named legal practitioner has been suspended from practicing law with immediate effect. By this notice, the said practitioner is not to appear in any court of law/tribunal and should not file any court process of whatever nature until further notice from the undersigned,”

“Since the firm under the name and style of (Messrs Levy Mwanawasa & Co) is a one-man firm, it is further ordered that the said firm be closed with immediate effect,” read the letter.

Ms Mwanawasa, 58, was a joint owner of the firm with her late husband, former President    Levy Mwanawasa, until he entered into politics and left his private practice.

Mr Ziukani and Mr Inambao are equally not to appear in any tribunal or file any court process of whatever nurture until further notice.
