THE Zambia National Men’s Network for Gender and Development has bemoaned the fact that high profile men experiencing gender-based violence (GBV) are not willing to come out in the open.
Network National Coordinator, Nelson Banda, said high profile men were not comfortable to come out in the open about being victims of GBV.
He said this during a media tour of a Men’s Comfort Centre at the network premises yesterday.
Mr Banda said the centre, which had been operational since January last year, was meant to give men free space to open up about their experiences on GBV.
The centre, he said, received numerous visits from men but observed that high profile men were not coming forth and opted to hide their experiences.
Mr Banda encouraged men in high profile positions such as business executives, politicians and others to open up on GBV issues against them if the vice was to be fought.
