THE Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has warned smugglers and individuals engaged in illegal dealings of prosecution.

ZRA Manager corporate affairs, Topsy Sikalinda, said his organisation had resolved to prosecute all cases of smuggling and other illegal dealings.

Mr Sikalinda said ZRA had put in place system to curtail smuggling and other dealings.

“These are thieves. Systems are in place but they want to beat the systems. Our appeal to all people is that we want you to do the right thing. We have resolved to take all offenders to court. Do it at own risk,” he said.

Mr Sikalinda said ZRA had resolved to take all offenders to court.

Recently, ZRA impounded trucks that declared as transit cargo to DRC by a Zambian clearing agent.

One of the trucks carrying fuel worth over one million kwacha was being monitored to appreciate and understand how exactly the scam was happening.

The alert ZRA officials waited for the truck to start offloading the consignment in the light industrial area to document the evidence and consequently impound it
