Man hangs himself using mosquito net in Kalumbila

A 26-year-old man of Musolokoto village in chief Mumenas’ chiefdom in Kalumbila district of North Western Province has committed suicide by hanging himself from the roof of his house.

North Western Province Commissioner of Police, Joel Njase confirmed the incident to ZANIS in a statement on Tuesday and identified the deceased as Blackson Tapula.

“The incident occurred between 7 February 2021 around 08:00 hours and 8 February 2021 around 07:00 hours at Musolokoto village, Kalumbila. Reported on 8 February, 2021 at 11:00hours at Mutanda police by male Teddy Makwilima aged 62 years of Musolokoto village, Chief Mumena, that his grandson, Blackson Tapula aged 26 years committed suicide by hanging himself from the roof of the house he sleeps in,” he said.

Mr Njase said  he used a mosquito net   to hang himself, adding that police visited the scene of crime and found the body hanging from the roof of a house where the deceased used to sleep.

He also stated that upon inspection of the deceased’s body, the tongue was found protruding. Mr Njase said the relatives to the deceased have since been advised to deposit the body at Solwezi hospital mortuary and later proceed to bury as no foul play is suspected.
