The Kasama Magistrates’ Court yesterday heard how a-36-year-old woman was divorced by her husband, following allegations that her husband’s friend had told him that he has been having several sexual relationships with most married women in Lunte and suspects that she may be one of them.

In the civil case, Mercy Kabila who is a teacher in Lunte sued her former husband George Kabelala 41, who is also a teacher based in Mungwi claiming that since they divorced in 2011 he has not been providing support to the two children he has left her with.

When the matter came up for hearing, before Principal Resident Magistrate Osward Chibalo, the plaintiff in the matter narrated that her husband divorced her on the pretext that his second born son was light in complexion when himself was dark and that his friend had told him that he goes out with a lot of most married women in the area.

However, in his defence the defendant Kabela narrated that it was herself who told him that the second born was not his biological son.

Mr Kabela said he cannot provide support to the son he believes not to be his biological one and maintained that he cannot also provide support to his first-born daughter, owing to the fact that she is in her custody.

Meanwhile, Mis Kabila denied her husband’s defence and she has since applied before the court to order for DNA test in order to ascertain the biological father of her second born.

The matter comes up tomorrow January 15th 2021, for judgment.
