HUSBAND MURDERS PREGNANT WIFE

POLICE in Mwinilunga district of North Western Province have arrested a 46 year old man for allegedly murdering his 29 year old pregnant wife.
In a statement availed to the media yesterday, North Western Province Commissioner of Police, Elias Chushi identified the
suspect as Amis Mashata and the deceased as Oziah Kashala of Kabanda compound in Mwinilunga district.
Mr Chushi explained that on November 5, police in the area received a report of an assault occasioning actual bodily harm on a
female.
He said the deceased’s neighbour, Juliet Masumba, reported that the couple had been having marital problems which often
resulted in fights.
The Police Chief said on 5th November, 2020 at unknown time, the estranged husband allegedly beat up his three months
pregnant wife such that she ended up being admitted in Mwinilunga district hospital where she unfortunately died the following day.
“On 5th November, 2020 at unknown time, the estranged husband allegedly beat up his wife, such that she was rushed to
Mwinilunga district hospital, where she was admitted but unfortunately died today 6th November, 2020,” he said.
Mr Chushi said the suspect who is currently in police custody has been charged with murder and is expected to appear in court
