Hello Mwana Amai and Mwana Wa Daddy

MY beautiful people, today I give you skincare tips that will keep your skin glowing, be more attractive or appealing and make you look younger.
I have seen a lot of people make horrifying mistakes when it comes to skincare or personal care in general. They would exfoliate daily, apply so many products that clog their skin pores or go days without cleansing. If this is you then this article will save your beautiful skin. I will not talk about skincare routines just yet, let’s leave that topic for another day.
Skincare is personal care. Your skin is the very first thing people get attracted to when they see you. There are a variety of skin colours ranging from the darkest brown tone to the lightest tone. Each one of these tones glows different and it’s beautiful radiance is as a result of good skincare habits. The following are my top skincare tips;

  1. The holy grail: know your skin type.
Do you have dry, sensitive, oily or acne-prone skin? Knowing what kind of skin you have is very important as this will dictate what products you will purchase. Also it will help you understand what your skin needs and craves. If you’re unaware or misinformed, you could compromise your skin’s natural balance and trigger irritation, inflammation, breakouts, and even premature aging by using the wrong products. I will elaborate further on this next week.
  2. Layering is key
If you don’t apply your skincare products in the right order you could prevent them from being fully-absorbed, which means they won’t be as effective. Your spot treatments, serums and moisturizers must be applied in an order for effective absorption. The general rule is to apply the most lightweight formulas first so they can be easily absorbed without the barrier of heavier creams. This goes back to skincare routines which we will discuss soon.
  3. Do not use too MUCH product
When it comes to skincare, ‘more is more’ is not a good rule. So if you apply too much moisturizer, the product will likely pill or could potentially block your pores. Plus, it’s a total waste of product and your money considering your skin won’t be able to absorb it all anyway!
  4. Cleanse, Cleanse, Cleanse
I cannot stress this enough! You must cleanse your face at least twice a day and your body minimum once a day. You face is very sensitive and needs enough attention. When you wear make-up, ensure to wash it off before bed. Don’t only use wipes and end there, No! Take your time during your cleansing, never rush through them. Take a minute and massage the cleanser on your face and neck to ensure all the dirt and impurities are removed.
  5. Incorporate Masks in your routine
Face masks can help address a whole array of skin concerns from oily and acne-prone skin to dry or sensitive skin; you just need to find the right mask for your skin type. You can do a face mask once or twice a week. If you have time go ahead a do a body mask once a week. You will see the difference in no time.
  6. Switch up your routine
Am not saying constantly change your skincare routine. We have different seasons throughout the year. During the winter, the low temperatures outside can seriously dry out your skin. Whereas in the summer, you’re dealing with humidity, sun exposure, and climbing temperatures; causing oily skin, dark spots, and even sun damage. That’s why it’s essential to combat the opposing temperatures with different formulas and ingredients throughout the year.
  7. Moisture is everything
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate – this is not a joke! When it comes to your skin, hydration is everything. Even if you have oily skin, you need to keep your skin hydrated; otherwise, it’ll produce more oil in an attempt to compensate. Also drink a lot of water for overall body hydration.
  8. Don’t forget your neck!
Neglecting the neck area is one of the most common skincare mistakes, which is kind of crazy as it’s one the of biggest giveaways of someone’s age. So always make sure you continue your entire skincare routine down your neck; this means cleansing your neck as well as toning, and moisturizing.
  9. Apply Sunscreen Apply sunscreen with SPF value of at least 20, that blocks both UVA and UVB rays. Since a lifetime of sun exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems, you have to protect your skin from the sun. Make sure the label reads ‘non-comedogenic’ or ‘non-acnegenic’ so that the product does not tend to block pores.
    1. You are what you Eat
Keep a note of what you put on your plate. eat fresh fruits, greens, sufficient protein and vitamins. A diet rich in vitamin C and low in fats and sugar promotes radiant skin. Consider a low-sugar diet, which can keep insulin levels down, allowing cells to maintain a healthy balance.
    2. Exfoliate
Exfoliating helps to remove dead skin cells thus leaving your skin smooth and and pores clean. Use a gentle exfoliator twice a week on your face, neck and even body for radiant skin.
    3. Lastly! Avoid Stress.
Stress ages you 10times faster. Take time to yourself, relax more and sleep for at least 8 hours.
