Police nabs fraudster in Chipata

POLICE in Chipata, Eastern Province have arrested and charged a 32 year old man with 6 counts of obtaining money by false pretenses.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner, Luckson Sakala who confirmed the arrest identified the suspect as suspect identified as Alex Pangani Banda of Chipata’s David Kaunda area.
Mr Sakala told the Sun that Banda on dates unknown but between January and May this year allegedly collected money ranging from K300 to K900 from different people.
Mr Sakala explained that Chipata police received complaints that led to Banda’s arrest from 6 different people.
He said the victims informed police that the suspect told them that he was recruiting field officers who will be helping to identify vulnerable families for Hustlers International, the organization he was working for.
Mr Sakala said Banda promised to offer the effected people jobs and that before they start working, they would attend a workshop where they would be given huge allowances.
He said the suspect was detained in police custody and would appear in court soon.
Mr Sakala has appealed to members of the public not to pay any person for job recruitment to avoid being swindle.
