Esther Lungu Foundation empowers Milenge women

THE Esther Lungu Foundation Trust has donated 36 chicken cages to the Milenge Economic Zone which is managed by the Kalaba Chanda Masheke (KCM) Foundation.
KCM Executive Director Kalaba Masheke who received the donated cages thanked the first lady for empowering the women under the foundation with equipment to raise money for various activities.
Ms Masheke said the 36 cages have the capacity keep up to over 4,000 layers because each cage can accommodate about 120 chickens.
“We are thankful to the Esther Lungu Foundation Trust for its continued support to our foundation. We will be keeping and selling layers. Part of the money raised will be given to vulnerable women in Milenge to help them start their own businesses,” she stated.
She added that KCM Foundation will continue to create empowerment opportunities for women and other vulnerable members of society.
And Milenge District Commissioner Mwenya Bupe has applauded the KCM Foundation for coming up with an empowerment initiative which has received support from the First Lady.
Mr Bupe said the Milenge Economic Zone will go a long way in empowering women and alleviating poverty in the District.
Meanwhile the gesture by the First Lady has won praise from Chief Sokontwe of the Ushi speaking people of MilengeDistrict.
The traditional leader has commended the First Lady for supporting development to his chiefdom.
He said the local people have already started benefiting from the Milenge Economic Zone as they have been engaged to construct structures at the facility.
He said the facility is helping improve the standards of living for residents.
