Farmer denies K1,850 theft

A TWENTY year old farmer has pleaded not guilty to stealing over K1,800 before the Nakonde Magistrates Court.

Izukanji Simbaya of Nakonde rural appeared before Magistrate Litungi Litungi charged with Theft contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

Allegations are that Simbaya stole K1,850 the property of Lydia Namfukwe.

The alleged incident is said to have occured on 27th June 2020 in Nakonde district the Border town of Muchinga Province.

When he appeared for plea before Court, Simbaya strongly distanced himself from the allegations levelled against him.

Court: Do you understand the charge?

Simbaya: Yes

Court: Do you admit or deny the charge?

Simbaya: I deny.

Court: Court records a plea of not guilty.

After recording a plea of not guilty Magistrate Litungi adjourned the matter to 24th July 2020 after the State made the application.

Simbaya was remanded in custody.
