POLICE in Solwezi District in North-Western Province has arrested 52 people for patronizing drinking places contrary to the
presidential directive on COVID-19.

The suspects were picked from various drinking places during an operation conducted by the police on Saturday to check
on the compliance to COVID-19 presidential directives.

Northwestern Province Commissioner of Police Elias Chushi has confirmed that the 52 who include 28 males and 24 females were picked up from G-greens bar and restaurant and California bar and night club.

Mr Chushi said the police arrested the suspects after they were found drinking with impunity.

provides for adherence to the presidential directives on COVID-19.

He said the proprietors of the premises will be taken to court and prosecuted for opening drinking places illegally.

The provincial police chief warned that the police will not relent in ensuring that those flouting the law with impunity are dealt with.
