CHIPOLOPOLO legends say they are eager to feature in the Kalusha Bwalya honorary match set for this Sunday at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

Representative of the former players in the post Gabon disaster Zambia national soccer team, Momba Ngandu, told the Sun Sport playing in this Sunday’s legends match was of sentimental value to them.

Ngandu said that the match would revive old memories of their team mates who perished in the Gabon disaster.

He said the players were set for the game and that 90 percent of the team was fit and would able play for 90 minutes to
entertain the crowd.

“It brings back old memories attached to the players that we lost in the Gabon disaster because we were part of them and others were just coming up,” he said.

Ngandu said, “Everyone looks set and everyone is looking forward to playing that game, and 90 percent are fit to play 90 minutes and entertain the crowds.”

The game will feature two teams namely the pre-Gabon disaster team, affectionately referred to as ‘KK11’, and the post Gabon disaster group also featuring Kalusha Bwalya.

The post Gabon team, will feature players like Christopher Katongo, Kakonje Kalililo, Kabamba Kalande, Nchimunya Mweetwa, Joseph Musonda, Clive Hachilensa, among others, and will be coached by Micheal Kapembwa.

The Pre Gabon disaster team will be made up of former captain, Kalusha Bwalya, Happy Sichikolo, Tenant Chilumba, Emmanuel Munaile, Martin Mwamba and will be coached by Zesco United Coach, George Lwandamina.

The Legends match is part of a series of events meant to honour stars that represented Luapula Province in different spheres of entertainment like Nashil Pichen Kazembe and P.K chishala in music, and Kalusha Bwalya and Samuel Matete in soccer and athletics respectively.
