PREPARATIONS for the hosting of the Southern Province Exposition in Livingstone are slowly gaining momentum.
Southern Province Minister Edify Hamukale said the expo, which will run from September 14 to 21, 2019, will start with a carnival on September 13.
Dr Mushimba said on September 14 there would be an international regatta at the Zambezi Boating Club after the carnival.
The regatta had already attracted the Barotse Royal Establishment.
Dr Hamukale said King of Barotseland, the Litunga, would attend the regatta with his ceremonial Nalikwanda barge.
He said everything was being done to ensure the Nalikwanda boat was transported from Western Province into Livingstone, Southern Province.
The Litunga had agreed to be part of the historical event and spice up the hosting of the expo.
Dr Hamukale said all those tasked with responsibilities related to the event and ensure it was a success were on the ground.
And deputy permanent secretary Kennedy Mubanga says a team of the Litunga’s indunas was last week in Livingstone to familiarise themselves with the venue for the regatta.
Mr Mubanga said at the right time, the Nalikwanda boat would be available to the media.
“Like other expositions that have so far been held in other parts of the country, President Edgar Lungu is expected to open the South Expo,” he said.
