Zambia should go slow on this HPV vaccine

ALLOW me to voice my concerns on the reported vaccination of over 17, 000 girls with the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine in Chongwe, Kafue and Lusaka districts while government is reported to have targeted to vaccinate 50,000 girls to prevent most cases of cervical cancer if given before a girl or woman is exposed to the virus.
From the onset, I strongly feel that the Zambia’s health ministry is supposed to do its due diligence before any Zambian receives this vaccine.
But knowing how lazy and inept these guys are, they just smile and go ahead vaccinating the population so that they can seen as doing something.
The onus is on the Zambian government to research this drug prior to allowing it to be consumed by our young girls.
Even our local Journalists would have done us a service by finding out what sort of medication is contained in this vaccine so that we can do our own research.
Bu I know that would be asking too much from these media guys too quick to push out a story with no content. They don’t seem to have the common sense to go behind the headlines and publish informed pieces of news
Some vaccines react very aggressively against certain pre-existing ailments and illnesses as well combining certain medications do in fact trigger very severe health risks.
It is very important to know who’s behind the donation, and even ask why and where else has this particular vaccine been tried because mice and chimpanzees in the laboratory isn’t good enough. Do we want our population to be used as the guinea-pigs?
There is no pharmaceutical company in the world that would give out drugs for free.
A lot of work goes into developing a drug and it’s a very long process and I am not even talking about the regulations.
