LINDA SOKO TEMBO writes

THREE men have been apprehended for allegedly stealing grave mark metal plates from Chunga and Leopards Hill Road cemeteries.

Lusaka City Council (LCC) public relations manager, George Sichimba said one person was apprehended and taken to Chunga Police Post while the other two were apprehended at Leopards Hill and were taken to Nyumba Yanga Police Post.

In a statement Mr Sichimba said council workers apprehended the suspects.

He said the local authority wished to warn the perpetrators of such vices that they would not escape the long arm of the law that had been put in place to curb the vice.

“The Council is working with State police and is now using the suspects to help identify buyers so that they too can be apprehended for providing markets,” he said.

Mr Sichimba said those involved in scrap metal business should make sure that the source from which they were buying was established to avoid inconveniences.
