Celtic tour North-West, sharpen up

NATIONAL Division bound Kafue Celtic have intensified training to fine-tune their squad ahead of the upcoming inaugural soccer season.

Celtic have embarked on a North-Western Province tour to sharpen themselves. They have played various clubs and select sides in the region.

According to the club’s North Western Province itinerary made by club proprietor Lee Kawanu , the team were to camp in Mwinilunga and later move to Lumwana.

”The team will spend the next 10 days in North Western Province for our pre-season training camp. We will set our base in Mwinilunga, the pineapple capital of Zambia, where we will play a series of friendly matches against some local clubs,” Kawanu he said.

”Next stop will be Lumwana on August 3 (yesterday) before we proceed to play a team from the Copperbelt. We return to Lusaka on August 7 to sharpen and be ready for the new season.”

Celtic have played a number of games with local sides which included three games yesterday.

“And the results were as follows: three-nil win over Kabanda Stingers , six-nil thrashing of Mwinilunga High School and a three-nil win against Zesco Mwinilunga .

The mainly youth dominated side made it to the inaugural National Division One League after shrugging off some competition from fellow Division One Zone One sides by finishing third on the final log standings.
