CHOMA-BASED Green Eagles has reinforced its squad in its quest to adequately compete in the upcoming soccer season which starts on August 17.
Having performed exceptionally well by emerging runners up in the transitional league, Eagles have acquired six players on permanent basis in a search to beef up its squad ahead of the CAF Champions League games this month.
Club media officer Faith Kaira told the Sun Sport that the players that had been romped in include defenders Andrew Kwiliko from Nakambala Leopards, Bonston Muchindu from Nkana and Benson Nzuma of Nchanga Rangers.
Kaira said Power Dynamos midfielder Gozon Mutale had left club to join Eagles while Lumwana Radiants player Hosea Silwimba is another midfielder that has joined the team.
The 2019 transitional league runners up has however only signed one striker in Mangani Phiri who has joined from NAPSA Stars on permanent basis.
Kaira further said that her club had for this upcoming season registered a 28-man squad for CAF Champions league games.
“The following players were excluded from the CAF list and have since been registered to play in the next Zambia soccer season, Lazarous Phiri,Muma Mumba ,Muna Mwaba, Joseph Mwindilila and Ray Mutale,” she said.
Meanwhile Eagles has loaned the following players which include Collins Mulenga (defender) to Nkana FC,Progress Kalenga (midfielder) to Nkana FC, Isaac Simbuwa (striker) to NAPSA Stars and Anos Tembo (striker) to Lumwana.
According to Kaira, Eagles has released four of its players who include ,Kizito Cheelo ,Wilbroad Mutale , Langson Mbewe and Kabamba Chilibwe.
Eagles will make their champions league debut against South African giants Orlando Pirates with the first being at home on August 9 and away in Johannesburg on August 24.
