Mkushi vulnerable land K220, 000 presidential fillip

The Presidential Empowerment Initiative Fund (PEIF) has distributed incubators, cement and mealie -meal to churches and the women groups of Mansansa area in Mkushi worth K220, 000.

PEIF national Coordinator Clement Tembo, handed over the items at Mansansa school grounds in Mkushi yesterday.

Mr Tembo, according to ZANIS, also distributed mealie -meal to women, mostly the aged and the needy as a way of addressing hunger in the area.

He said the presidential initiative fund was also looking at addressing the immediate needs of people before giving them an empowerment which was in form of tools and capital.

He said President Lungu’s desire to empower his citizens went beyond religious or political affiliation.

And Mkushi North Member of Parliament Doreen Mwape thanked the Head of State for empowering people especially in her area.

Ms Mwape encouraged women in the area to form cooperatives so that they could be empowered as a group.

He said President Lungu should be commended for empowering both the vulnerable but viable women and men using his own resources.

Mkushi District Commissioner Luke Mwamba said the Head of State has not only empowered women in the district, but has also implemented various development projects in the area.

Mr Mwamba said various development projects that include township roads, bridges, and health facilities already under construction.
