PROFESSIONAL Engineering Company Limited (PECL) has won praise from provincial administration in Southern Province for completing the two projects which it was awarded to do.
Deputy permanent secretary Kennedy Mubanga said that PECL was the first local contractor under the financing of KFW, Germany to finish it’ works on time.
It was awarded a contract to construct a market in Pemba and a bus station in Sinazongwe which have since been completed and handed over.
This is contained in a statement issued to the Sun by, Mr Mubanga.
“The market in Pemba and the bus station in Sinazongwe under the said contractor and consulting firm were handed over and the Pemba Town Council has issued completion certificates accordingly,” he said
Mr Mubanga observed that from what the company and the consulting engineers, Kaplum and Associates Ltd had done, it was clear that local contractors have the capacity to do good jobs.
“Hearty congratulations to Professional Engineering Company Ltd for being the first KFW Contractor to officially complete and handover two projects out of the 11 in Southern Province,
“Also thumps up too to Kaplum and Associates Ltd Consulting Engineers Architects and Project Managers for also being the first KFW Consulting firm to deliver the projects,” he said.
Mr Mubanga said he was confident that the local contractors had what it took to support the construction industry in the province and Zambia at large.
He said that the provincial administration was urging the remaining contractors to up the game and work round the clock to deliver the projects accordingly.
