A NSUNKO-ADDICTED maid of Lusaka who sued her husband for divorce in the Chelstone Local Court got her heart’s desire when the man was ordered to compensate her with K5,000.

Prudence Mwewa, 25, of Chainda Township was appearing before presiding magistrate Mary Namangala in a matter in which she had sued Coylad Siasuntwe, 29, a driver of the same area for divorce.

She said she wanted court to help her reconcile with her husband, who had chased her with her child from home.

“The problems came about way back when we got married because I couldn’t bear him a child the first years of our marriage. He insults and beats me as well whenever we quarrel. I want him to tell me why he chased me from the house,” Mary said.

But Siasuntwe said he found his wife with insunko

, and warned her sternly but she did not stop.

He said he was forced to take her back to her parents’ house.

“I also want divorce because we cannot cooperate as husband and wife, and about the child I will be giving support and will also finish paying dowry as charged’’ Siasuntwe said.

He told court the major reason he also wanted divorce was that Mary sniffed insunko too much and had failed to change her behaviour.

The couple married in 2010 with one child.

Siasuntwe had paid part of the dowry.

The court granted Mary divorce and ordered Siasuntwe to compensate her K5,000 with first instalment of K1,000 starting September 25, 2019 and k 300 monthly thereafter.
