A WOMAN of Lusaka’s Kanyama area has begged a local court to end her marriage of 7 years because her husband is abusive.
Benson Mwansa,35,of the same locality was sued by his wife, Naomi Nyimbi, 34, a sales manager at Madalitso General Dealers, on claims that he abused her both physically and verbally and she wanted their marriage to end.
The two got married in 2012 and K3,000 dowry was paid in full. The couple has two children together.
Nyimbi told Kanyama Local Court magistrate Mubukwanu Matalaka that her husband was a good man when they got married but problems began in 2015 when he started having an affair with her boss at her work place.
“My husband is jobless, he has no proper qualifications. I have been providing for this family since we got married because I love him, but after introducing him to my boss who wanted someone to fix her office toilet, the two have become close and he has become abusive to me since.” she said.
In his defence Mwansa said he was doing all the duties required of a man and that he always gave his little money to his wife and denied being abusive.
“I give all the little money I make to my wife whenever I have it because she is the one who does the budget, the boss she is talking about is her friend whom they had partnered in testing my loyalty. My wife deliberately asked her boss to be seducing me of whom I got to know of this today,” he said.
Bu magistrate Matalaka could not pass judgement because the couple came without witnesses and advised the couple to seek counseling from elders of both families.
