PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has proposed for a soccer indaba to address what he termed as dwindling fortunes in the sport.

Speaking when he swore in Minister of sport Emmanuel Mulenga at State House yesterday, President Lungu recommended that he should call for an indaba that would come up with a solution to Zambia’s declining sports reputation.

The President noted with sadness that the fortunes of the Zambian football were dwindling and urged the new sports minister to engage stakeholders to find a lasting solution.

President Lungu also urged Mulenga to tap into the knowledge of other soccer experts to halt the declining name of Zambia in football circles.

“I know that Zambians were disappointed to watch the 2019 AfCON finals without their country’s participation when such small teams in the region qualified. Therefore, you have to work with the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to ensure that you turn our fortunes around,

“I know that you cannot do this alone, you will need to tap into the knowledge of others to help you perform this mammoth   task.Talk to FAZ and find out what’s happening but don’t bully them because they are independent,” President Lungu said.
