CONFIDENT HANDBALLERS FLY OUT

THE Zambia Under-17 handball national team yesterday left for Guinea Conakry to take part in the International Handball Federation (IHF) continental trophy tournament which starts today.
Speaking before departure yesterday at Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport(KKIA) head coach Josab Changa expressed confidence in his team that it would emerge victorious at the tournament.
Changa said his team was ready for the competition owing to the amount of work it had put in the preparations.
He said his team comprised of quality players, some of whom were well experienced to compete at such a higher level.
“We are very much prepared for the tournament and have enough faith we shall emerge the top team in Africa,
“If you look at the intensive training that we had, we are all set because we have high calibre players some of whom participated in Ivory Coast at the last junior level of the same competition.
Changa said that his target was to win the competition which comprised of four other teams that include Cameroon, Uganda, Guinea, and Nigeria.
He said winning the trophy would guarantee his team a place at the IHF world championship to be held later this year.
Changa further said that this team needed to be motivated by Zambians because not only was it representing itself but was also carrying the Zambian flag high.
Zambia qualified to the continental competition after emerging victors of the regional IHF zone VI championship held in Lusaka last month.
A total of 15 athletes with three officials made it on the travelling party to the tournament.
