Carefree boss guns down worker

A 46-YEAR old man of Chisamba’s 22 miles area, in Central Province, has been shot dead by his boss under unclear circumstances.

The victim, identified as Luckson Mugala, was reportedly shot in the back and arm by his employer, identified as Botain Kalinda, around 03:00hours yesterday as he went to check on the pigs while smoking a cigarette.

University Teaching Hospitals (UTH) public relations officer, Natalie Mashikolo, confirming the development to the Sun and said Mr. Mugala was rushed to the UTH for treatment but later died at 09:30hours.

“Adult Hospital admitted a 46-year-old man by the name of Luckson Mugala of 22 miles who was shot by his employer around 03.00hours but he died at 09:00hours,” Ms. Mashikolo said.

She said, according to the statement given by the victim’s boss (Mr. Kalinda) at the UTH, he shot at his employee around 03:00 hours by mistake after he heard noise from outside and later saw a person loitering in the yard when he peeped through the window.

According to Ms. Mashikolo, Mr. Kalinda said he only later discovered he had in fact shot his worker who had reportedly stepped out of his house to check the pigs and smoke a cigarette.

Police public relations officer Esther Katongo, said the accused person was contacted and had promised to hand himself to police on Thursday.

“Scene visited and gun alleged to have been used has been retrieved. A Docket of murder opened,” said Ms Katongo.
