THE ministry of local government has approved the K1.6 million 2018 constituency development fund (CDF) projects for Kapiri Mposhi district.

Among the CDF projects approved include construction of a footbridge across Muteteshi River at K95,000, rehabilitation of Mukonchi police post at K80,000, construction of market shelters at K126,000 , drilling of bore holes at K840,000 and rehabilitation and completion of classroom blocks at K330,000.

And local government minister, Vincent Mwale has implored the Kapiri Town council to regularly monitor projects to ensure successful implementation.

Council public relations officer, Chris Mulaliki said in a statement that Mr Mwale has further urged the council to subject all projects to the Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) Act No. 12 of 2008.

“The local government minister has urged the council to facilitate the formation of project maintenance and also maintain the project design, types, location and bill of quantity,” said Mr Mulaliki.

And Mr Mulaliki said Council Chairperson, Obby Kabasa said the local authority would only fund projects that had been approved and would ensure that they were all completed on time for the  benefit of the community.

He said Mr Kabasa said CDF was helping communities fight poverty through the implementation of local development projects particularly those that providd basic needs such as education, health, feeder roads and water.

Mr Mulaliki said the council chairperson has assured all the stakeholders that the council would not delay the process of releasing money for the projects to avoid the money from being mopped back by government.
