Ox-cart kills 98 year old woman

A 98 year old woman of Namwala has died after an ox-cart crashed her to death on Sunday morning.
Kaboko Shinungu was sunbathing outside her house when she met her fate.
Police spokesperson Esther Katongo said the incident happened when the oxen which was being driven by Ponigas Ndombe became uncontrollable while drawing the cart.
Ms Katongo said the victim sustained serious bodily injuries due to the impact and was pronounced dead by medical personnel on arrival at Namwala District Hospital at 13:50 the same day.
“The body of Shinungu has since been deposited in Namwala district hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial,” she said.
Meanwhile, police on Sunday detained Womba Samakayi of Meanwood Ndeke after his three dogs bit to death an eight year old boy.
Ms Katongo said that Samakayi’s family was evacuated to safety from an angry mob that threatened to cause damage to the property.
The eight year old boy was killed around 12:50 hours on Sunday after Samakayi opened his gate to drive into his compound.
The dogs rushed and attacked the victim who was walking on the nearby road.
