A LUSAKA man has been ordered by the Chilenje Local Curt to pay K3, 500 compensation to another man whose daughter he put in the family.
Edith Nyirenda,40 of Bauleni compound sued Prince Chanda, 38,of Arakan Barracks for making his daughter pregnant.
The two were appearing before senior local court magistrate Ackim Phiri, sitting with senior local court magistrate Harriet Mbewe and presiding local magistrate Patrick Nyrienda.
Nyirenda said last year in November she discovered that her daughter was pregnant.
“By then she was seven months pregnant. I informed Chanda but he denied the pregnancy. Chanda told me that the child was not his because he had not had sex with my daughter for a long time,
“Chanda said he only had sex once with my daughter without using a condom. I want him to compensate me for impregnating my daughter,” she said.
In his defence Chanda admitted sleeping with the girl but doubted that the child was his.
“I slept with her once and we used protection. I told her mother that I wanted to do a DNA test. I have been supporting the child with K200 but I just want to be sure he is mine,” he said.
But the girl said Chanda had sex with her on several times without protection and that the child was his.
The court ordered Chanda to pay K3,500 compensation for pregnancy with the first installment of K500 effective August.
