A minibus driver in Lusaka has been ordered to pay K2, 000 to the man he insulted without reason.
Laison Tembo, 28, of Chilenje Township, was ordered by the Chilenje Local Court to compensate Brown Mwila, 35, also of the same area, for always insulting him, his wife and mother without reason.
Mwila told court that Tembo once insulted him, his wife and mother as they walked in the evening said he has been insulting him for no reason.
He said, “It is not the first time he insulted me. He always does, and it angers me but I simply ignore him. I fear he may die if I hit him.”
But in his defense, Tembo who appeared before senior local court magistrate Ackim Phiri, sitting with senior local court magistrate Harriet Mbewe, said he
insulted Mwila because he shut his minibus’s door whenever he tried to load passenger his bus.
“Mwila operates at the station where I usually load from. He is very rough and he stops me from loading passengers without paying him,” he said.
Tembo said, “I told him satanyoko. I met him with his wife the following day, and told him the same thing.”
The court in its judgment ordered Tembo to pay Mwila K2, 000 as compensation for the insults in K250 installments, beginning in August.
