A TWENTY-THREE year old youth of Solwezi has hanged himself in the male toilet of the local Baptist Church, provincial commissioner of police Hudson Namachila has confirmed.
Mr Namachila named the suicide victim as Muzala Mulopu of Chief Chibwika Chiefdom who was discovered by a passer-by Gerald Mpinze in the Magrade area
“Mpinze saw Mulopu’s body hanging in the toilet at the church and later reported the incident to Police who visited the area and inspected the body,
“Police found Mulopu’s hanging in the toilet with his tongue protruding from his mouth. The victim used a necktie to kill himself. No physical marks were found on the body and police do not suspect any foul play,” Mr Namachila said
Mr Namachila said the body of the deceased has since been deposited in Solwezi General Hospital mortuary.
This is a second suicide report in a week in Solwezi after a 24- year old youth committed suicide by hanging himself to a tree with a rope.
Meanwhile Luvales and Lundas fought running battles in Zambezi at the weekend during a meeting that saw chairs being thrown at each other.
Mr Namachila confirmed the incident but said no casualties had been reported yet, although former Member of Parliament of Zambezi East Ms Sara Saifwanda has been arrested and charged with conduct likely to cause breach of the peace.
He said police had launched investigations to establish and identify those involved in the free for all punch up.
