Chamanga stays on at Arrows

VETERAN striker James Chamanga has extended his contract at Super League side Red Arrows following the end of his three-month stint with the club.
Red Arrows media liason officer Martin Kalimbwe said Chamanga, who joined his team in April on a short-term contract, would remain at the club until the end of the 2019/20 league season.
Kalimbwe said the club has reinforced its squad by bringing in new other players ahead of the new season.
Chamanga, 39, who is also former Zambia national football team striker, made eight appearances for Arrows in the 2019 transitional league season and scored three goals.
His goal against Lusaka Dynamos, clocked at 38 seconds, was the fastest in the 2019 transitional league season.
The Super League side have signed goalkeeper Mackline Nkhoma and striker Hope Katwishi from Zesco Victoria Falls and Kitwe United, respectively.
Kalimbwe said that midfielder Gift Lukwesa had returned following a loan spell with Circuit City while midfielder Justin Zulu had been released.
Jackson Mpande, Alick Phiri and Kombe Sabiwa had been promoted to the first team from the reserve side, Young Arrows.
Kalimbwe said five of the team’s players had extended their loan spells with respective clubs as they would not return for the 2019/20 soccer season.
Shadreck Malambo, Festus Mbewe (both Nkana), Lottie Nyimbili, Marcel Chewe (both Nkwazi) and Jackson Kakunta (Power Dynamos) would not be returning to the club for the 2019/20 league season after their loan deals were extended.
Red Arrows on Sunday began their pre-season training on the Copperbelt where they had set up camp ahead of the new soccer season which starts in August.
