Convicted rapist referred to High Court for sentencing
A 23 YEAR old villager of Bweengwa village who has been found guilty in the Monze Magistrates Court for raping a 21 year old woman has been referred to the High Court for sentencing.
Appearing before Magistrate Lwiimba Ng’onga was Fred Mahuba, of Chief Hamusonde’s area.
Mahuba was found guilty of having of canal knowledge of a woman on December 29 last year without her consent contrary to section 132 of the penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
The victim said she was asleep when around 01.00 hours she was woken by a taping noise on her bed which initially suspected her husband who was out of town.
She proceeded to light a torch which was pushed away by the Mahuba who held her by the neck until she was choked and fainted.
She later woke up to find herself with no underwear, with semen oozing from her private part. She went to report her ordeal to her neighbors.
Magistrate Ng’onga has however referred the matter to the High Court for sentencing. -ZANIS
