THE Zambia Under-17 Hand ball girls’ team has regrouped in readiness for the African Championships to be held in Guinea from July 23-29.

Handball Association of Zambia (HAZ) president, Bwalya Banda, told the Sun Sport that the U17 girls team went into camp today at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC).

Banda said that so far preparations were going on well and that the travel arrangements had already been done and all visa secured for the players.

He said the team would only break camp in time for departure for Guinea and that the Association had reduced on the number of athletes from 20 to 17.

He said everything was in place for the trip apart from the yet to be fulfilled pledges by individuals and Madison Insurance General for the air fares.

“I think we are moving, the Visas have all been done for the team and all we are remaining with now are the air tickets,” he said.

Banda said, “We are on course, we are just waiting for the pledges that were made. I am sure that either this week or next week we can buy the air tickets after the people who made pledges fulfill them.”

The Zambia Handball team qualified to the tournament after emerging champions of the Zone VI regional tournament held in Lusaka in June.

HAZ estimated it would require K357, 000 to meet the travel and other tournament expenses.
