A SECOND year Copperbelt University (CBU) student of Lusaka’s Mtendere East, Humphrey Mwewa, has appealed to the public to help him raise K7, 568.00 tuition fees.

Mr Mwewa, 24 explained that he was at CBU pursuing Bachelor’s degrees in mathematics but was unable to pay the outstanding balance due to financial constraints.

In an interview with the Sun, Mr Mwewa said he enrolled in 2016 as a regular learner and was given 100 percent bursary but his support was deactivated after he failed to clear all the courses in his second semester due to financial challenges.

“I was in enrolled in 2016 as a regular learner and was given 100 percent bursary. I did well in my first semester and cleared all my courses but in my second semester I did not do well because of financial challenges. I failed to clear all the six courses I only managed three,” he said.

Mr Mwewa said because of that set back he was put on part time and his 100 percent bursary was deactivated and was advised to pay K11, 568.00 under self-sponsorship.

He said out of the amount he was charged he only managed to pay K3,900 leaving him with outstanding balance is K7,568.00.

Mr Mwewa said once he paid his balance he would be re-activated to 100 percent bursary and proceeds to third year and pursue his studies.

He was the only child of a single mother who worked as a house cleaner and was not able to raise that kind of money.
