BOUNCER IN TROUBLE

A 47 years old night club door bouncer is appearing in the Choma Fast Track for allegedly assaulting a female patron who had a confrontation with his female manager.

This is in a matter in which Sylvester Chanda a door bouncer at the most popular Club Leelove Night in Choma stands charged with one count of assault.

Particulars of the offence are that on June 23 Chanda assaulted 38 year’s old Lungowe Simuwana a businesswoman of Choma and sustained a bruised arm.

When the matter came up for trial before Resident Magistrate Ethel Phiri, Simuwana testified that on the date in question she was at the night club between 01:00hrs and 02:00hrs drinking beer when the club manager named Barbra grabbed and asked her that they go outside to talk.

“She pulled me outside where I found another lady who is her friend by the name of Mercy, they started asking me about Mercy’s ex-boyfriend David Siame who happens to be my ex-boyfriend as well’’ Simuwana said

She later decided to go back inside the club where she had left her things but Barbra threatened  to set the security on her.

Simuwana said shortly two security officers came and held her hands from behind and lifted her in the air asking that she go outside as they had received instructions to throw her out of the club.

She said during the fracas Chanda slapped and squeezed her arm which was left with bruises.

“I pleaded with them that I go back inside to get my phone and purse which I left , they gave me my belongings but my phone was damaged and the K3,000 in my purse was not there,

When asked by public prosecutor Dexter Kwalela how she felt after being beaten she said she felt embarrassed as she a public figure in Choma who run her own business.

The matter comes up on July 8 for continuation of trial. Chanda was remanded in custody pending bail application hearing.
