Manchester United not interested in selling ‘this’ defender during the summer: Wrong decision?

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof had a really mixed season after joining the club from Benfica back in 2017.
During the first half of the previous season, the centre-back struggled for game time under Jose Mourinho but things started to change once Solskjaer was appointed as the new boss.
The Norwegian used Victor Lindelof as one of his constant first choice defenders while his partners kept changing. And by the end of the 2018-19 season, the 24-year-old ended up playing in 30 Premier League games.
And now it is being claimed that Barcelona have approached Manchester United in order to sign him during the summer transfer window.
Barca are looking to strengthen their defence for the upcoming season and they have made an approach for Victor Lindelof but that offer has been rejected swiftly by the Premier League outfit.
Inside Football reported: “According to Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona got in touch with Manchester United earlier this month to enquire about the availability of the Sweden international this summer.
“But Manchester United rejected the approach in a resounding manner and made it clear that Manchester United will not sell Lindelof ahead of next season.”
Ole clearly is showing faith in the Swedish international to become his regular centre-back for the upcoming season and now the United boss is planning to bring in a long-term partner for him.
But some experts have claimed that the Man United manager should send Victor Lindelof to Barcelona and instead bring Samuel Umititi to Old Trafford.
United have been previously linked with Umtiti but the centre-back recently claimed that he wishes to stay at Camp Nou and fight for his place in the first eleven.
“I have a contract and I’m happy at Barcelona,” said Umtiti. “I had a difficult season, but I don’t want to go to other clubs. Next season I’ll be at Barça.”
But this would seem really difficult now that Barcelona are looking for a new centre-back along with the fact that they already have Pique and Lenglet.
So the Frenchman should be smart enough and look to move out of Barcelona this summer and becoming part of a swap deal for Victor Lindelof would make absolute sense for everyone involved in the deal.
