Under-20 women COSAFA preps in top gear

WITH Zambia Under-20 women national team set to regroup in preparation of  COSAFA ,FAZ  has appointed former national team assistant Coach Kape Saili to deputize Charles Halubono .

Saili returns to the national fold having been part of the technical bench that competed at Africa Women championship in Cameroon in 2017.

She was also part of the under-17 girls’ team that won the Zone 6 championship in 2012 then later led team to maiden World Cup in 2014.

The former national team player was then elevated to the senior women team in same capacity as an assistant and qualified the team to it’ 2nd AWCON appearance. 

Saili currently holds a CAF B licence and is also a FAZ D coaching instructor.

Among her accolades is that of having attended an international coaching course in the Netherlands in 2009, first appointed U20 assistant coach that same year and later moved to the Under-17 in 2012.

She is a former Chilenje girls football team player and one of the first to play at the regional inaugural COSAFA women’s tournament in Harare in 2002 where Zambia emerged 3rd. 

Saili started her football career in 1993 which has seen her represent Zambia at different levels both as a coach and player.

Meanwhile Zambia women national team captain Misozi Zulu says she is happy to be back from a long injury layoff and help the team challenge for the COSAFA title.

Misozi who sustained a knee injury in a 1-0 win over Cameroon at the 2018 COSAFA championship in Port Elizabeth, South Africa is part if the Bruce Mwape tutored side that regrouped this week.

The Indeni Roses midfielder said the team had no excuse for not winning the trophy at the 2019 competition to be staged in Port Elizabeth from July 31 to August 11.

“I feel good to be back, i always felt that I will be fine and playing again,” she said.
