ZANACO say they have started rebuilding after having a disappointing season in the just-ended transitional league.

Coach Mumamba Numba said this after his side’s 4-1 loss to Zesco United in the ABSA Cup final at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Numba said his team had already started plans to rebuild after an unimpressive season.

He, however, said he was happy with his side despite the losing the title to Zesco.

“I must say it was an exciting game. We all came to the party despite giving away the goals that we gave Zesco. Otherwise the players accounted themselves well.

“I am very happy with the performance of the team,” he said.

“I think the red card also cost us. It affected us and we tried to adjust but things couldn’t work out.”

Numba said he was in a rebuilding process that would enable the team to return to its glory.

He said he was working on the defence and would bring in a few players to strengthen the team ahead of continental games.

“Of course, we’re looking at the central defence. It’s the area we need to beef up. We need experienced players because the boys that we have there are young and inexperienced. So, we need to get people with good experience to play in those two positions,” he said.

Zanaco’s next game is against Buildcon in the 2019 Transitional League, third/fourth play-off at Heroes in Lusaka next Saturday.
