Choma man impregnates daughter?

A CHOMA man has appeared in a Magistrates Court for allegedly having sexual relations with his 16-year old daughter and impregnating her in the process.
This is in a matter in which Hastings Siambulo, 41 of Choma’s Maleba settlement stands charged with incest Contrary to Section 159 Chapter 87 of the Penal Code of the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that on dates unknown but between November 2017 and January 2018 Siambulo had carnal knowledge of his biological daughter.
Siambulo was arrested on July 15, 2018 after his wife reported the matter to the Police, and in August of the same year he started appearing before court to date.
When the matter came up for mention before Resident Magistrate Ethel Phiri, the court was notified by public prosecutor Coillard Sikwalulwa that the State had not yet received instructions from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Magistrate Phiri was however not pleased with the State, saying the matter had dragged and almost clocking 1 year which was unfair to Siambulo who was deemed innocent before the Law until proven guilty.
The matter has since been adjourned to July 19 for another mention.
