The formation of the Lusaka Midtown Rotary Club by Metro Rotary Club, has been hailed as the biggest milestone in the history of Rotary Clubs in Zambia.

Past District Governor (PDG) and Club Advisor to both Metro and Midtown Rotary Clubs Ravi Devalia, said the new club consisting of 37 members was formed in less than 3 months.

He said the achievement was unprecedented and called on the new club to work hard and contribute to uplifting the lives of Zambians through various projects as enshrined in the Rotary Club charter.

“This is history because Metro Rotary Club itself is less than 12 months old but it has quickly formed another rotary club which grew from 3 to 37 members in less than 3 months. This is a great milestone indeed,” said Mr Devalia.

He called on other clubs to strive to form new clubs and bring in more members into Rotary and share with them the amazing projects, fellowship and networking possibilities that are available through the 1.2 million strong Rotarians population and 35,000 Clubs worldwide.

And speaking at the event, Midtown Rotary Club President Nana Mudenda thanked PDG Devalia and all the Rotarians of the Lusaka Midtown Rotary Club for having entrusted her with role.

Ms. Mudenda said she looks forward to her new challenge and promised to continue with works in tree planting, health, literacy and water projects, to better the lives of the needy.

The event that took place on June 14, was attended by The District Governor of District 9210 consisting of Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Northern Mozambique, Mr. Hutch Muthinda.

Others in attendance included the PDGs Larry Mapani, Nimrod Kapwele, DGN Lucie Kasang and DGND Victor Mensah.
