A LUSAKA man has sued his wife of three years for divorce alleging that she and her family rejected him after taking her to school.
This is in a matter Samora Ngandu appeared before Boma Local Court Senior Magistrate, Peggy Nyambe, in a matter in which he sued Chiluba Banda, 26, of Libala Township for divorce.
Ngandu told the court that he married Chiluba in 2016 after paying dowry and that they have a child together.
He said that despite that the two have been on separation for two months, he still loved his wife but her family kept rejecting him even after he sent their daughter to school.
“I want my wife to tell me the reason why she’s now saying am not her type after taking her to school, we promised each other never to part ways but she seems to follow the other path,” he said.
Ngandu said, “She does not give me respect as a husband, she has photos of a man in her phone whom she communicates with every time. My wife makes me pay K150 for having sex with her and does not allow me to sleep with her if I don’t touch her.”
Ngandu told court that her wife communicated with her ex-boyfriend in his presence and that he tried talking to her parents about the issue but they kept telling him there was no problem with it.
“She keeps telling me that her uncle doesn’t want me, that I should just find and marry another woman. My wife only shows me when I have money, but demands for expensive things whenever I want to have sex with her. At one point, she even demanded that I first buy her a phone worth k1, 500 before I could sleep with her failure to which they would be no sex,” he said.
“She insults a lot and also exchange nudes with Indians, I am really fed up and she should tell me why she doesn’t want me after spending my money on sending her to school, she now wants to abandon me after making her acquire a diploma,” he said.
“If she doesn’t want me, let her find another wife for me who has a diploma because I am not ready to start anew. I had a lot of burden educating her whilst I suspended my education,” Ngandu said.
Chiluba, on the other hand, said she also wanted to divorce because of having too much wrangles in the home.
“My husband is a liar, he abandons home and goes out for weeks without telling me his whereabouts. I only discovered later that he is married and has children with another woman, so let his wish be done,” she said.
Case was adjourned to a later date for continued hearing and to allow the plaintiff to produce a marriage certificate.
