Pedestrian killed by motor bike

A PEDESTRIAN was killed on the spot by a speeding motorcycle in a hit-and-run road traffic accident in Zambezi district in North-Western Province.
ZAMBEZI district pedestrian aged 56 years in North-Western province has died after a motorcycle run him over and drove off.
Provincial Commissioner of Police Hudson Namachila the 56-year-old victim was killed at Mununga Village on the Zambezi-Mize road.
Mr Namachila identified the victim as Peter Kayelu of Mushona Village and the motor bike rider as Douglas Malikuki of Mwange Village in Chief Ndungu’s chiefdom.
“The pedestrian of Chief Ishima’s Chiefdom was coming from the opposite direction the rider coming in the direction of east to west hit him hard causing a deep cut on the head; bleeding from the nose and a fractured right leg. He died on the spot,” he said.
Mr Namachila said Mr Kayelu’s body is in Zambezi Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
He said the accident happened when the rider failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of the motor bike and hit the pedestrian.
“Damages to the motor cycle not yet known, but the scene of accident has been visited. The rider is to be charged with causing death by dangerous riding,” Mr Namachila said.
