A 14-YEAR-OLD girl has allegedly been defiled by her teacher in Chinsali District in Muchinga Province.

The teacher is on the run but police are looking for him so that he can answer to the allegation.

Commissioner of Police Joel Njase named the teacher only as Muyoba of Muomba Primary School.

Mr Njase said the mother of the girl reported the defilement to police on behalf of her daughter.

“Police at Nambuluma has recorded a report of defilement which was reported on Tuesday, 4th June, 2019 at 11:15 hours to the effect that her daughter was defiled by her school teacher, Muyoba, other names not known of Muomba Primary School in Chinsali District,’’ Mr Njase said.

He said Muyola allegedly defiled the child in Lashatu Village in Chief Nkula’s area.

Mr Njase said the suspect allegedly defiled the victim about three times from May, 2019 with the latest being on May 27, 2019 around 10:00 hours at the school.

He said the pupil complained of painful private parts and that the suspect is currently at large but police were looking for him.

In another development a 60-year-old man of Chinsali has drowned in Lubu River at Kapululu Village in Chief Nkula’s area.

Mr Njase said the man drowned on Tuesday between 13: 00 hours and 14:30 hours.

He named the victim of the accident as Bornface Mulenga, 60.

Mr Njase said the body was retrieved after it was found trapped in a fishing net which he had set to catch fish in the same river.

“The body was found intact with no physical injuries and it was identified by his elder brother Chewe Mulenga of the same village and no foul play has been suspected,” he said.
