ZAMBIA Super League Stream A runners-up ZANACO FC are bubbling with confidence to scoop this year’s upcoming Barclays Cup.
Club assistant coach Dabid Chilufya told the Sun Sport that being drawn against Green Eagles in the ABSA Cup semifinals was challenging and that it would not be an easy match.
He said that Eagles was a tough team to play against but that his team was already preparing for them.
“We want to win the ABSA Cup and to do that we’ve to work very hard,” he said.
Chilufya said that training had intensified as the team was also preparing for the CAF Confederation Cup, ABSA Cup and Zambia Super League 3rd/4th play-offs.
Chilufya said that having rested for a few days, the team was back to training and started preparations for the upcoming games.
“We are focusing on ABSA Cup semifinals that are on June 15, so we are preparing the team for that and make sure that they do not lose their fitness even as the league starts next season,
“We have qualified for CAF Confederations Cup and we are trying to patch up where we did not do well during the transitional season,” he said
Chilufya said that the club executive was doing its job to get the players it had recommended as it wanted to come up with a good team for CAF competition.
He said that competition was stiff among the players.
“Competition is there among players, I believe a team is not supposed to relax because they are not playing,” he said
Zanaco plays Eagles in a Barclays Cup semi- final on June 15 and will later take on Buildcon in the third and fourth league playoffs on June 29.
