GOVERNMENT has appealed to the residents of Zani Muone West and Kabangwe areas in Katuba Constituency to be patient as it was working round the clock to ensure the poor state of roads are worked on.

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure Development permanent secretary Charles Mushota said the residents should be a bit patient as progressive roadmap to work on the poor road networks in the area was in the pipeline.

Mr Mushota’s remarks come after the residents of Zani Muone West and Kabangwe in Katuba Constituency complained about the poor state of the roads in their communities.

Recently, a number of visibly disappointed residents complained that despite repeated assurances by political representatives in the recent years, the area was faced with immense difficulties everyday as a result of the poor road network and shortage of water.

The residents spoke through the two community representatives, Chrissy Kalubangwe and Salome Kasonda.

But Mr Mushota appealed to the residents to remain patient.

The PS said Government was committed to ensuring the roads were worked on.

He said although he had not received a formal complaint from the residents, Government was committed to ensuring the roads were worked on under the L400 Project.

Mr Mushota, however, advised the residents to also appreciate the development works Government was executing in the area to motivate them to do more.

“Their cry has never been brought to my attention other than what you are telling me now. But my immediate reaction is that Rome was not build in a day.

“We are still compiling the work. I am sure you have seen that after Kabangwe Avic is working on the road going inside. So let them know that better things are yet to come for the people of Zani Muone West and Kabangwe and Lusaka in general,” Mr Mushota said.

Mr Mushota said he would wait for a formal complaint or petition from the residents.
